All the great local restaurants get very booked up for the season. Below are a few of our regularly tested out by ourselves and top favourites …..
-
Cove Cafe Bar (Hope Cove)
While you are here you must go to the Cove Cafe Bar at our local sunset beach – Hope Cove for food and to watch the Devon sun set which are spectacular if you get a good one! You cant book this one but they do a great table wait service and have a sun terrace over looking the beach to wait with a glass of vino or craft ale (they have loads) for you to be called to your table and served… its really dog friendly and the food is great, local and good value too.
-
The Crab Shed (Salcombe)
Great seafood in an old crab processing shed on the water in Salcombe
-
Twenty Seven by Jamie Rodgers (Kingsbridge)
Our nearest fine dining restaurant. Jamie was on Masterchef the professionals and the food is amazing. One for a special treat!
-
The Crab Shell (kingsbridge)
Right on the creek and lots of outside seating, this trendy pub has a great vibe and on a Friday has live music outside on the terrace and serves great Pizza and a range of meat and fish dishes. Dog friendly outside and in the bar area too.
-
The Kings Arms (Salcombe)
A busy pub with a great fishy specials board and a sun terrace to soak up the views.
-
The Oyster Shack (Bigbury)
Bigbury (25 minute drive away when the tide is out!)- Amazing seafood in a relaxed setting. It has a great terrace for a lazy lunch. If you say you are staying with us you will receive a 10% discount off your bill.
-
Britannia On The Beach (Beesands)
A BYO fish shack that serves great seafood and charges a small corkage. The seafood is so fresh it literally could have just jumped out the sea which is right over looking it. They also do takeaway so you can literally sit on the beach and enjoy the view.
-
The Old Inn (Malborough)
Five doors up from us in Higher Town – Serving home-cooked food at realistic prices. With many special & offers on throughout the week such as ‘Pie & Pint’ or ‘Curry & Pint’ both £10 per person and they also have a variety of live entertainment on throughout the year.
-
Maha Bharat Indian Restaurant & Take-Away
Devon’s best authentic Bengali and Indian cuisine, established in 1993. Their multi award winning Indian restaurant offers authentic, high quality Bengali and Indian cuisine in the heart of Kingsbridge, South Hams. Their secret lies within the alchemy of quality herbs and spices cooked with the finest range of meats and vegetables.

-
The Journeys End - Ringmore
The Journey’s End Inn is a 13th century free house in the village of Ringmore around 30 minutes drive or a £25 taxi ride roughly….Its really close to Burgh Island so great for an early dinner after a day on the beach.
It has a great atmosphere and amazing locally sourced food. You can take dogs in the bar area – the Chef, Conor Heneghan Living extensively in Australia and Thailand with a background as head chef in Pier 9 in Brisbane, one of Australia’s top seafood restaurants. More recently the head chef at Burgh Island Hotel until Journey’s End in 2009.
This is one of our favourites and is worth the trip over.
-
The Winking Prawn - North Sands (Salcombe)
So close to the beach you can have lunch in your swimsuit, the Winking Prawn sits just over the road from North Sands in Salcombe. Welcoming visitors for more than 20 years, our particular brand of shabby chic beach restaurant always buzzes with activity as people congregate for breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the bits in between, throughout the year.
-
The Old Bakery - Kingsbridge
Great tapas plates in a quirky building in the centre of Kingsbridge opposite the taxi rank.
-
Dream Turkish Kitchen - Kingsbridge
New for 2022 this Turkish restaurant is a good one to try. Small Mezze plates and main courses too.
-
The Church House Inn -Churchstow
This lovely old pub is in the next village from us and serves great pub food and a good varied specials board. Ask for a table in the bar as its the old and quirky and you can book online also.
