East Soar to Overbeck’s National Trust Walk

East Soar to Overbeck’s National Trust Walk

Walk to East Soar, then to Overbeck’s. During  your stay you might like to take in the beautiful views, and Devon countryside. We took a circular walk today which starts at the National Trusts East Soar car park. It takes about 45 mins to reach South Sands, in Salcombe where you can stop for lunch and refreshments. It takes you along the runway of what used to be RAF Bolt Head, through Tor Woods which at this time of year have lots of wild garlic growing, and a sea of bluebells.

Follow well marked paths to visit the exotic garden at Overbeck’s with panoramic views of the South Hams. Keep your eyes peeled for the hidden coves, and perhaps stop for picnic and a swim along the way. You will be amazed by the dramatic seascapes, estuary views, rugged cliff-tops grazed by beautiful Highland cattle. In the summer you may spot the Dartmoor ponies grazing. Into the valleys you’ll see amazing blue turquoise waters of Starehole Bottom.

Look out for the Walkers Hut that opens in the summer. You can grab a takeaway from the East Soar Outdoor Experience at East Soar Farm – Enjoy a hot drinks, cake and snacks too.
